ABS reaction to Autumn Statement loans announcement
Association of Business Schools welcome postgraduate loans announcement
LONDON, December, 3, 2014 / -- The Association of Business Schools, the representative body for UK business schools, welcomes today’s announcement by the Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne, to introduce a postgraduate loan system.
Commenting on the autumn statement, Anne Kiem, Chief Executive of Association of Business Schools, said:
“We welcome the Chancellor’s announcement to widen access to British higher education by providing a loan system for postgraduate students. Business schools represent one in five postgraduates studying in the UK and play an important role in the UK economy. Business schools have been particularly hard hit by the decline of postgraduate students, in a large part due to the visa restrictions for international students, so our members welcome initiatives such as this that will stimulate higher numbers of postgraduates.
“We note that 43 per cent of the postgraduate population are over 30, tens of thousands of whom are studying business and management. We look forward to participating in the consultation in 2015.”
