Chartered ABS response to the Knowledge Exchange Framework

As part of the Industrial Strategy White paper, there was the formal announcement of the introduction of a Knowledge Exchange Framework, or KEF. In response, HEFCE’s Technical Advisory Group asked for suggestions on the metrics that should be used. The Chartered ABS, on behalf of business schools, responded suggesting more time and thought needed to be given to identifying the need for such a framework, especially given the potential overlap between it and the Impact measure within the REF. There was reference made to the HE-BCI, but as we know, this doesn’t cover all knowledge exchange interactions. It is very unlikely that any metric will be able to accurately gauge all the ways in which universities, and in particular business schools, engage with business.
