Enabling a successful student transition journey

13:30-16:15, 29 September, online

This interactive workshop will help participants to more effectively support their students as they transition into university life. Through a blend of digital technologies, department programme teams and support services the workshop facilitators will demonstrate how a holistic approach to the student transition journey may be created and applied.

Transition into university life requires early and timely intervention and must be interdisciplinary. It also has a role in leading students in development of long-term engagement with academic community and their peers. The workshop will be of value to academic, professional services and learning development colleagues involved with every aspect of the student journey as both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the workshop participants will have:

  • Greater understanding of the transitional element of the student journey
  • New knowledge of the impact of various stakeholders in enabling success in transition
  • A deeper appreciation of the impact of digital technologies as a vehicle to support student communities
  • Insights into the importance of students as advocates in the academic community
