Diversity Workshop: Tackling inequality for BAME students and staff in business schools

Statistics show BAME students are less likely attain the highest degrees than their peers, and are also less likely to be appointed to highly skilled employment.

Universities have made similarly little progress in appointing BAME staff to senior positions. This workshop will explore and examine how these inequalities might be addressed by business schools.

Full analysis of national initiatives to improve the representation, progression and attainment of BAME students and staff will be an important feature of the day. Business school case studies of actions being taken to tackle BAME inequality will also be explored in detail.

Speakers at the workshop will be:

  • Kirsty Johnson, Access & Participation Manager, Office for Students
  • Donna Whitehead, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Executive Dean, Bristol Business School, University of the West of England
