Accelerating the development of Directors and Managers of executive education teams in UK business schools
Overview
The Executive Education Leadership Programme (EELP) 2024 is designed for new, and aspiring, Directors of Executive Education or those with similar commercial responsibilities for short programme provision at UK business schools.
Facilitated by Steve Ludlow (formerly Head of Executive Education, Henley Business School) EELP 2024 is a multi-dimensional development programme. Over 6 months, participants will develop the knowledge, skills and networks necessary to develop their institution's strategy for short course provision and lead successful executive education teams.
The programme takes place over four modules and includes visits to two Chartered ABS member schools, to provide 'live case studies' of how executive education is delivered in a higher education setting. All sessions will consist of interactive presentations from experienced executive education professionals, lively discussions and engaging group activities. Throughout the programme, participants are encouraged to share their challenges and support colleagues, and at the close of the first day of each module, there will be a dinner enabling informal networking and cohort building. The final learning activity of the programme is a simulation of a client Invitation to Tender (ITT) during which participants will compete to win the work.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the programme participants will have:
- Developed or reviewed the strategy, marketing plans and business model for their executive education function
- Prepared a personal development plan to build on their strengths as leaders
- Gained a deeper understanding of best practice in business development and the design and delivery of executive education learning experiences

Session Four: Developing the business
27-28 June, London
Session Four will explore:
• Managing client relationships
• Working with partner organisations
• Understanding client requirements
• Making the pitch
On the afternoon of the second day of session 4, there will be an opportunity to meet with participants from previous cohorts at an EELP alumni event, taking place at the Chartered ABS offices in London.

All modules are 24 hour 'lunch-to-lunch' sessions, the usual format being:

Steve Ludlow
Steve is an experienced business leader, learning designer, facilitator and coach with a passion for helping individuals and organisations achieve their goals. His recent career has been with major international business schools including Oxford University’s Saïd Business School and London Business School, where he has worked with a wide range of public and private sector clients including Standard Chartered Bank, the UK Financial Conduct Authority, Oracle, the government of Oman, UK Cabinet Office, BAE Systems and Mars. Until December 2020 Steve was Head of Executive Education at Henley Business School, a triple-accredited global top 25 executive education provider, where brand management and first-class customer service are as important as the learning experience.
Steve believes that management learning is most effective when set in a personal development and organisational context and focuses on the practical challenges faced by leaders. His approach weaves world class academic input with action learning, coaching and personal feedback. Steve’s specialities include Executive Education, Learning Design and Delivery, Leadership Development, Coaching, Work-Based Assessment, and Business Development.
Steve has an MBA, a Professional Certificate in Executive Coaching and is a SEDA Accredited Teacher in Higher Education. He is currently studying for an MSc in Coaching & Behavioural Change.

Programme fee: £4,190*
The programme fee includes:
- All programme materials and catering/venue costs for all four sessions
- Dinner on the evening of Day One at all four sessions
- Accommodation for the night of Day One at all four sessions

Where does EELP take place?
Sessions One, Two and Four take place at the Chartered ABS's dedicated event facilities at 40 Queen Street in London.

Can 2 people from the same institution attend this programme?
Due to the nature of the programme which focuses on personal development and encourages frank and open discussion, it may not always be suitable for two participants to attend from the same institution. If we receive two registrations from individuals at the same institution we will notify the institution and the participants, taking account of when the registrations were received, and ask for guidance on whether one or both can attend on the same programme.
What will happen to my booking if some/all of the programme cannot take place as planned?
Before the programme starts: If, due to Covid-19 regulations, we are unable to commence the programme on the scheduled start date we will either postpone to a later date, or consider making EELP a blended, hybrid or fully online programme. The decision will depend on the nature of the situation. In the case of postponement registered participants will automatically be transferred to the new dates. If some/all of the programme is moved online participants will have the option of transferring their booking or receiving a full refund.
Once the programme has started: If, due to Covid-19 regulations, we are unable to run Sessions 2-4 as in-person events on the scheduled dates we will either postpone one or more of the sessions to later dates; or we will complete the programme in a blended, hybrid or fully online way. The decision will depend on the nature of the situation. Registered participants will be consulted before any decisions are made and will automatically be transferred to the new arrangements. If the programme can be completed on new dates or wholly/partially online we will not offer full or partial refunds.
