Professors of Practice are in a unique position to make a significant contribution to the work of business schools. With successful careers in business and industry, their skills help ensure the relevance and practical application of a school’s teaching and research impact, and their wealth of experience is of considerable value to academic faculty.
While Professors of Practice bring so much to business education, crossing the divide from practice to academia can be hard work, presenting a number of challenges. This roundtable meeting for business school Professors of Practice will explore the benefits and how to overcome some of the challenges, looking at what Professors of Practice need, and how that might be best provided.
Professors of Practice leading the discussion will be:
- Professor John Grisby, Professor of Management Practice, University of Bedfordshire Business School
- Professor Chris Beer, Professor of Practice, Warwick Business School
- Professor Brian Howieson, Professor and Head of the Management Division, Edinburgh Napier University
- Professor Sandy Pepper, Professor of Management Practice, Department of Management, The London School of Economics and Political Science
