Home Office issues updated guidance on Tier 4 visas for new and existing students

Following conversations with our members we have been in discussions with the Home Office/UKVI, and the Department for Education over the concerns of business schools of Tier 4 visas and the impact of COVID-19. We appreciate that this is a uniquely challenging and uncertain period for many schools, and that there are significant concerns about the current visa regime on existing students and for student recruitment in the new academic year and beyond.

Both Departments are clearly alert to the issue and the concerns of the wider sector. They have shown a willingness to be flexible and accommodating as far as possible, and released updated guidance on temporary concessions in the visa framework for Tier 4 sponsors, Tier 4 students, and short-term study students. This guidance is linked below.

We will remain in conversation with these departments and other concerned organisations from across the sector, so if there are any issues you wish to raise please do just get in touch.
