Junior Finance Administrator

Salary: £31,870 – £33,000 per annum, plus benefits
Contract: Full-time, permanent
Location: 40 Queen Street, London EC4R 1DD (Hybrid: 2 days in office, 3 days from home)
Reports to: Head of Finance

Role summary

The Chartered Association of Business Schools (Chartered ABS) is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Junior Accounts Administrator to join our Finance team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous finance or accounts administration experience who is looking to develop their career in accounting within a supportive, purpose-led organisation. You will play an important role in supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the Association, ensuring financial records are accurate, transactions are processed efficiently, and internal controls are maintained.

Working closely with the Finance Manager and wider team, you will contribute to the smooth running of finance processes while developing your skills in a collaborative and professional environment.

Key responsibilities:

We are looking for someone who will:

  • Process supplier invoices, purchase orders and employee expense claims accurately and promptly

  • Prepare and process customer invoices and support the collection of outstanding payments where required

  • Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable activities

  • Reconcile bank statements, supplier accounts and customer accounts

  • Maintain accurate financial records and process transactions using Sage accounting software

  • Support month-end and year-end financial procedures, including journals, accruals and account reconciliations under supervision

  • Organise and maintain finance documentation using SharePoint and Outlook to support audit requirements

  • Ensure compliance with company financial policies, procurement procedures and internal controls

  • Respond to finance-related queries from colleagues and external stakeholders

  • Provide general finance and administrative support as required

We are looking for someone with:

  • Previous experience in an accounts or finance administration role

  • A diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related discipline

  • Experience using Sage accounting software (essential)

  • A sound understanding of accounting principles and financial processes

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office

  • Strong numerical, analytical and organisational skills

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and work both independently and collaboratively

  • A proactive approach, willingness to learn and commitment to maintaining confidentiality

  • AAT qualification (full or part-qualified) is desirable
