Bristol Business School

With over 4,500 ambitious students and 200 talented academic staff, Bristol Business School combines an unwavering commitment to outstanding teaching and research with a real-world focus on collaboration with business, the professions and the community.

We’re proud to be at the forefront of the disciplines in which we specialise and are determined that our work in the Bristol Business School promotes ethical practices and has a genuine, lasting impact on the world around us, as well as equipping all our students for a future where they can realise their full potential. Our new £50 million home, due to be completed in 2017, is a reflection of our collective drive and our vision for a living building where business professionals, students and academics can connect and collaborate in an environment that enables everyone to thrive.

In all our activities, we aim to be professionally engaged, practice led, internationally connected and academically strong. We work to ensure that all programmes carry maximum professional accreditation and offer real-world experiences though placements, internships, simulations and direct connections with professions. The Business School is embedded at the heart of the regional business community, attracting regular engagement with high profile industry experts and inspirational guest speakers.

We have a progressive, global outlook, evidenced in our internationalised curriculum, the international students we attract and the partnerships we have in place across Europe, Asia, the Americas and Africa. We’re focused on excellence in learning and teaching, research that feeds into the curriculum and enhances knowledge, KE that strengthens knowledge and connections, and executive education that contributes to strengthening management and leadership in society. There’s a real emphasis on regular review, continuous improvement, innovation and ensuring that that everyone can apply their academic knowledge to real-world issues.

We stand out for our research activities too, particularly in the areas of social marketing, leadership and enterprise, global finance, economic analysis and employment. The Business School is one of the highest ranked post ’92 university business schools in REF 2014. Over 50% of outputs were rated as internationally excellent or of world leading quality.

As part of this dynamic approach, we’re continuing to build on the strong local, national and global relationships already established with a wide range of partners, enabling us to expand our contribution to higher education and increase our involvement with major employers, academic and professional bodies, leading institutions and the general community. We’re also aiming to achieve both the US (AACSB) and European (EPAS) kite marks of quality for our business provision. Overall, this approach not only opens up a world of opportunities for our students, it also ensures that our courses remain at the cutting-edge and are fit for the future.
