New appointment for the Chair of the Chartered ABS
The Chartered ABS offers congratulations to Professor Julia Clarke, Chair of the Chartered ABS, who has been appointed as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Experience) at the University of Wolverhampton. Sadly, this move from her current position means that Julia will also be stepping down as our Chair in December. Julia has served in this role since November 2018.
The Chartered ABS and its membership are deeply grateful for Julia's hard work and commitment over her tenure and wish her all the best in her new position. Chartered ABS CEO, Anne Kiem, has extended her thanks;
"Julia has given her time and expertise to a number of important initiatives at the Chartered ABS over her time on Council and as Chair. She has been a key figure in guiding our work for all business and management colleagues, especially business and management educators, and she has been a tireless and inspirational voice for the sector. Julia has a formidable passion for creating a world-class student experience and we have no doubt she will be outstanding in her new role."
As a long-term member of the Chartered ABS Learning, Teaching, and Student Experience Committee, Julia was instrumental in launching the Leaders in Learning and Teaching development programme, which she co-facilitated. She has also been a recurring speaker at the Chartered ABS Annual Conference, Annual Research Conference, and the Learning, Teaching and Student Experience Conference. Before becoming Chair she was deeply involved in our work for the sector as a member of Chartered ABS Council, and played a key role in developing the Chartered ABS's commitment to diversity, as well as in the upcoming taskforce on the value of business and management to the public good.
A new Chair of the Chartered ABS will be appointed from the Chartered ABS Council in due course. More information on this process and our governance can be found here.
