New Chair for the Small Business Charter

The Small Business Charter is delighted to announce the appointment of Margarita Rodriguez-Piza as its new Chair. Maggie replaces Michelle Ovens CBE, who stepped down in December after three years in post.

Maggie’s career spans 20 years advising and working with SMEs, including creating investment and business programmes to enable them to achieve their growth ambitions. Through her time as a Corporate Finance Adviser and as an investor in early stage businesses, she has first-hand experience and understanding of the importance of management skills in growing businesses.

She is the Chief Executive of Funding London, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Greater London Authority. She has led the transformation of the organisation from a special purpose vehicle to managing more than £150m of funds invested in SMEs. She has experience of working with LEPs, European and UK public sector bodies, and private sector partners which will be usefully applied to her role at the Small Business Charter.

Anne Kiem, Executive Director of the Small Business Charter, said, “This is an exciting time for the Small Business Charter as we deliver Government sponsored programmes to support SMEs through this challenging period and beyond. We are really pleased that Maggie is joining us to help steer the strategy of the SBC and we are looking forward to working with her. She has fantastic knowledge of what makes small businesses successful which will be hugely beneficial.”

Maggie Rodriguez-Piza said, “I am honoured to join the Small Business Charter as Chair at this important next stage of its growth.  I am a firm believer in the work that the Charter does to support small businesses to achieve their growth potential, and look forward to working with Anne, the team and the Management Board.”
