New professional qualifications for Marketing students

28th July 2015 CIM University of Hull

Hull University Business School has joined forces with CIM (The Chartered Institute of Marketing) to give students the opportunity to gain professional qualifications through CIM Graduate Gateway.

Further developing its relationship with CIM, the Business School will offer students studying on its marketing programmes the opportunity to achieve CIM qualifications while studying, providing exemptions from CIM assessments if certain academic requirements are met.

This will fast track the process of gaining invaluable professional qualifications from CIM, which can open up the door to increased earnings potential, a wealth of networking opportunities and resources, and will give students a real boost up the career ladder.

The school’s Undergraduate marketing degrees, including joint honours degrees with marketing, have been aligned with the Graduate Gateway criteria, as have the Masters programmes of Marketing Management, Advertising and Marketing and Strategic Brand Management.

Diane Earles, Network Manager, said: ‘CIM is the leading professional body for marketers worldwide and exists to develop the marketing profession, maintain professional standards and improve the skills of marketing practitioners. We are delighted to be able to strengthen our already established relationship with Hull University Business School for the benefit of their students.’

This latest enhancement to the marketing programmes at the Business School follows the announcement that the undergraduate marketing subject group is joint top in the country for overall satisfaction according to the 2014 National Student Survey (NSS).

Peter Andrews, lecturer in marketing, said: ‘We are really pleased to introduce the Graduate Gateway initiative to our marketing programmes and feel certain this will bring significant benefits to our students. CIM qualifications are highly sought after by employers, and map alongside our own degrees which ensures we are equipping students with the best opportunities for a successful marketing career.’

‘This new development is part of our continued work to ensure our programmes deliver the best possible experience to our students and meet the needs of current employers. High employability rates, engaging teaching, live business projects and strong industry links are just some of the reasons why we have been named joint top in the country by our students themselves in the latest NSS.’
