Nottingham Business School joins world top 5% with global accreditation

Teaching at NBS

Nottingham Business School is now one of the top business schools in the world after Nottingham Trent University received accreditation for the quality of its business and management courses from The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).

AACSB is the world’s largest business education network and accreditation represents the highest standard of achievement for business schools worldwide. Less than 5% of the more than 16,000 schools worldwide granting business degrees have earned AACSB Accreditation.

Accredited schools are considered to have the highest-quality research and teaching staff, deliver relevant and challenging curriculum, and provide educational and career opportunities that are not found at other business schools. They produce graduates that are highly skilled and more desirable to employers than other non-accredited schools.[1]

The accreditation recognises Nottingham Business School’s unique and dedicated approach to personalised and experiential learning. Each and every one of its 4,500 students has their learning experience increasingly tailored to their aspirations through the use of academic and industry mentors, analytics and a comprehensive range of personal development and experiential learning opportunities.

Nottingham Business School is also a leader in integrating experiential learning into the fabric of all courses at all levels.  Its pioneering in-company degrees, the BA (Hons) Business Management (In-company) and BA (Hons) in Management and Leadership course, benefit some 200 students through direct sponsorship by blue-chip companies such as Toyota, Experian, Tesco, Barclays, Boots and Rolls-Royce.

Dean of Nottingham Business School, Professor Baback Yazdani, said: “Nottingham Business School is now internationally recognised as amongst the best in the world and we’re also Europe’s top school for integrating personalised and experiential learning for all our students.”

“The internationally rigorous AACSB accreditation process helped the entire school to focus on our mission of delivering education and research that combines academic excellence with impact upon business and society.”

“Students who study with us now know that they will receive the highest quality education and organisations across the globe can be assured that when they employ a Nottingham Business School graduate at any level they will be getting a talented professional that will have a positive impact on their organisation and performance.”

Achieving accreditation is a process of rigorous internal review, engagement with an AACSB assigned mentor, and peer review. During the multi-year process the school focused on developing and implementing a plan to align with AACSB’s Accreditation standards.

Robert D. Reid, executive vice president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB International, added: "It takes a great deal of self-evaluation and determination to earn AACSB Accreditation, and I commend Nottingham Trent University for its dedication to management education, as well as its leadership in the community. Through accreditation, Nottingham Business School has not only met specific standards of excellence, but has also made a commitment to ongoing improvement to ensure that the institution will continue to deliver high quality education to its students.”
