Academic Leadership and Management Programme 2026

About this programme

The Academic Leadership and Management Programme (ALMP) supports the development of academics who are currently undertaking, or preparing to undertake, mid-level leadership and management roles within UK business schools.

ALMP is designed to help participants navigate the transition from being an individual academic contributor to being a manager and leader. It focuses on the practical realities of leading academic teams and managing strategic responsibilities in complex and resource-constrained environments.

Why this Programme is needed

Business schools increasingly rely on academics undertaking middle leadership and management responsibilities across departments, divisions, programmes, and strategic initiatives.

However, many colleagues move into these roles with limited formal preparation for people leadership, operational management, resource planning, and leading through organisational change and complexity.
