Engaging China: Emerging opportunities for UK business schools

About this event

China remains a strategic priority for UK business schools, with institutions adapting to evolving regulation and changing student demand and identifying new opportunities for collaboration in education and research.

Recent Chartered ABS research highlights the continuing importance of China to the sector:

  • 89% of responding business schools already have established or targeted activity in China

  • 83% expect their engagement with China to grow over the next three to five years.

  • Institutions are increasingly focusing on targeted opportunities in transnational education, research collaboration, interdisciplinary programmes, alumni engagement and industry partnerships.

  • Business schools recognise that engaging successfully with China requires an informed and strategic approach. Access to market intelligence, policy and regulatory insight, and a better understanding of emerging opportunities were identified as the sector's highest priorities for support.

This Chartered ABS international community meeting will be chaired by Professor Amir Sharif, Dean of Norwich Business School, University of East Anglia, and Chair of the China-UK Business School Dialogue Advisory Group.

The session brings together experts from the higher education sector, the British Council and the Department for Business and Trade to discuss what these developments mean for UK business schools and where the greatest opportunities are likely to emerge over the coming years.
