Why teamwork needs a meta-rubric

Most academics have heard versions of this complaint after a group project. We invest significant effort helping students understand what good academic work looks like through rubrics, exemplars and feedback. Yet when it comes to teamwork, we often assume students will simply work it out for themselves. However, that assumption is becoming increasingly difficult to justify.

Meeting your professional development goals through the CMBE

Running quarterly, this 1-hour session is aimed at new, prospective or renewing CMBE subscribers. We will explore how to use the dashboard, what kinds of CPD are eligible and get more ideas about what activities you could be doing. You'll have the opportunity to see what other CMBEs are up to, as well as be able to ask any questions you may have.

By the end of the session you will have:

  • A practical understanding of the CMBE CPD framework and clear ideas for planning and diversifying your CPD using the CMBE ideas hub.

  • Increased confidence in using the online CMBE dashboard to log, reflect on, and evidence your CPD activity in ways that support appraisal, promotion, and progression.

  • An understanding of the opportunities for engagement within the CMBE community, and how participation in this community of practice can enhance your professional development over time.

  • Clarity on next steps in your first year as a CMBE, including common pitfalls to avoid and practical actions to take in the early months of your subscription journey.
