Chartered ABS publishes Transnational Education policy statement

The Chartered ABS has published a ‘Transnational Education Policy Statement’ to provide members with guidance on delivering high-quality, sustainable, ethical, and mutually beneficial transnational education (TNE) that upholds the world-class standards of UK business and management education. The statement was drafted by The Chartered ABS International Committee with guidance from the Policy Committee.
The statement outlines five key principles to guide member TNE activities:
The Chartered ABS advocates for TNE built on genuine partnership, mutual respect, and equitable collaboration, moving beyond traditional 'exporter-importer' dynamics.
The Chartered ABS recommends that members ensure their TNE provision rigorously meets the quality benchmarks established by UK regulatory bodies, host country organisations, and relevant international business school accreditors.
The Chartered ABS encourages the use of clear, consistent, and standardised terminology when describing TNE models and activities.
The Chartered ABS expects members to conduct rigorous due diligence and demonstrate sensitivity to the legal, ethical, and cultural contexts of TNE operations.
The Chartered ABS supports members in aligning TNE activities with UK government priorities, recognising TNE's strategic importance for international education and the economy.
TNE offers significant opportunities for global engagement, partnership building, and reputation enhancement. By adhering to these principles, UK business schools can build successful, sustainable, and impactful partnerships.
