The Chartered ABS publishes response to Post-16 Education and Skills White Paper
The Chartered ABS has published a formal response to the Government’s Post-16 Education and Skills White Paper, which includes a series of reforms to develop a skilled workforce and break down barriers to opportunity. The Government has set out an ambitious vision for universities, including its emphasis on raising teaching quality, encouraging specialisation within research, and delivering a stronger regulatory framework for the sector.
In our response, we have highlighted proposals we welcome, those we have concerns about, and areas where we seek further clarity. We focus on five areas that we believe will have the biggest impact on business schools and the wider sector: financial sustainability, research funding, teaching excellence, high-level skills, and regulation.
While the Government has signalled its support for higher education in the White Paper, we believe more concrete and sustained action is required to ensure the sector’s financial stability so that business schools can continue to deliver vital economic and societal benefits.
