Chartered ABS report on Graduate Outcomes data for 2021-22

The Chartered Association of Business Schools has published its analysis of the latest dataset of the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) 'Graduate Outcomes' survey. The survey collects information about the activities of graduates 15 months following completion of their studies, and the latest dataset is for graduates from the 2021/22 academic year.
Our analysis looks at the outcomes and destinations of graduates from Business & Management with comparison offered to other subjects.
Full-time employment rates
Full-time employment rates for UK-domiciled first degree graduates in Business & Management are two percent higher than the average for non-science subjects, and the third-highest amongst non-science subjects, behind Media, Journalism and Communications, and Education and Teaching. Business & Management UK-domiciled postgraduates record higher full-time employment rates than the average for all subjects.
Highly skilled employment rates
This year's report contains more detailed data on the Standard Occupational Classifications of graduates who were in employment 15 months after graduation. The proportion of Business & Management graduates in highly skilled forms of employment is the same as the average for other non-science subjects but below the average for all subjects overall.
Employment rates data by constituent subjects within Business & Management
For the first time, this year's report provides data on full-time employment and highly skilled employment rates for individual subjects within the Business & Management domain, providing more granular insights.
Patterns of employment by region
This year's report contains a breakdown of the employment locations of Business & Management graduates and the average for graduates from all subjects. It also looks at the proportion of graduates who secured employment within the region of the institution they graduated from. There are several regions where more than half of Business & Management graduates found employment within the vicinity of their institution.
Graduates running their own business
Business & Management continues to produce more graduates running their own business 15 months after graduation than any other subject.
Interactive dashboards with data from 'Graduate Outcomes'
The Chartered ABS has for the first time published data on the outcomes of Business & Management graduates within interactive dashboards, giving users the ability to filter, benchmark and analyse the last three years of data from Graduate Outcomes, including for their own institution.
The dashboards are free to users who are registered for our website, including those registered for the AJG and CMBE.
