Small Business Charter

The Small Business Charter (SBC) is an accreditation celebrating world-class business schools across the UK and Ireland that demonstrate excellence and impact in supporting small businesses, student entrepreneurship, and their local economies.

It was established to signpost entrepreneurs, small businesses, and local economic stakeholders to business schools in their region with the expertise to help them thrive.

In order to achieve the Small Business Charter accreditation, business schools undergo a rigorous assessment to determine the effectiveness of their business support, entrepreneurship education, and engagement with their local economy. 67 business schools across the UK now hold the Small Business Charter.

The Small Business Charter was developed by Lord Young, the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, and the Chartered Association of Business Schools. In addition to providing business schools with the prestige of a nationally recognised accreditation, our business schools also benefit from access to capacity building activities, influence through nationwide advocacy, and the opportunity to deliver programmes relating to business growth.
