University of Edinburgh Business School
The University of Edinburgh Business School enjoys a long tradition of teaching and research, opening the doors to our first cohort of students in October 1919. The school offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and executive education programmes in business and management and provides a platform for research, discussion, and debate on a wide range of business issues.
From campaigning for gender equality in the workplace to pioneering internet privacy, our students have gone onto shape business and culture around the world for over a century. Business school students have been writing the future since 1919, we're asking current students what next? What can be achieved over the next 100 years?
The Business School has a clear mission, focus and vision for the future including advancing our standing among business schools and being recognised as a progressive and connected community for thought leadership on the national and global stage. In essence, this translates to 'inspiring people to do business better'.
Our mission is to develop effective and responsible leaders by creating insightful knowledge and inspiring minds in dialogue with the world around us.
Our vision is to be recognised as a progressive and connected community for thought leadership on the international business stage.
The school has identified 5 key values that will help us to achieve our vision and thus staff are being encouraged to adopt these wherever possible:
Visionary
Inspirational
Collaborative
Impactful
Sustainable
We strive to ensure the quality of our teaching and research. We comply with the Quality Guidelines disseminated by the wider University and publish extensive guidance for staff on the topic.
We are committed to equal and fair treatment of all employees and students. Policies concerning diversity, support for mental health, support for women, and support for work-life balance are in place, and align with wider University policies.
