Deans' Meeting: Exploring the post-16 education strategy

Exploring the post-16 skills strategy

The Deans' Meeting brings together Deans of Chartered ABS member business schools for a candid discussion on current affairs.

In this meeting, we will focus on the evolving Post-16 education strategy and the far-reaching implications it holds for universities, and business schools in particular. With major reforms on the horizon, this session will provide an opportunity for the Chartered ABS Deans community to share insights, test assumptions, and explore responses in a confidential setting.

Discussion topics will include:

  • How the Post-16 Education White Paper and the evolving Growth and Skills Levy are shaping the future policy landscape for higher education

  • The implications of these reforms for the financial sustainability of business schools, including risks and potential opportunities

  • The role of the international students levy and how it may intersect with broader changes in post-16 funding and access

The meeting will be chaired by Professor Stewart Robinson, Chair of the Chartered ABS.

All discussions take place under the Chatham House Rule and attendance is restricted to the Deans of Chartered ABS member institutions.

Speakers:

Professor Stewart Robinson

Dean, Newcastle University Business School; Chair, Chartered ABS
