Demonstrating educational impact: Practical strategies for teaching-focused academics

CMBE Community Meeting

This session explores how educational impact is interpreted within teaching and education promotion pathways in business schools. It will help CMBEs develop practical approaches to evidencing the impact of their educational work and educational scholarship, and learn from peers how teaching innovations, curriculum leadership and pedagogic scholarship have been translated into promotion cases.

Learning outcomes

By the end of this session, participants will:

  • Understand how educational impact can be evidenced and articulated within promotion and progression cases in UK business schools.

  • Explore practical examples of how activities such as teaching innovation, curriculum leadership, and pedagogic scholarship have been aligned to institutional promotion criteria.

  • Identify different forms of evidence that can be used to demonstrate educational impact and influence.

  • Reflect on the opportunities and challenges associated with building a promotion-ready educational impact narrative within different institutional contexts.
