
The Chartered ABS launches the inaugural India-UK Business School Dialogue
The inaugural India-UK Business School Dialogue will take place in New Delhi in September 2025
Professor Caroline Gatrell appointed Chair of Academic Journal Guide Management Committee

The Chartered ABS has appointed Professor Caroline Gatrell as the new Chair of the Academic Journal Guide (AJG) Management Committee. The appointment comes as Professor Angus Laing’s term ends.
Professor Caroline Gatrell is Deputy Dean at University of Liverpool Management School, where she was previously Associate Dean for Research. She is an eminent academic in the field of management where her research covering employment, gender, health and personal lives, has been published in world-leading management journals.
Caroline is General Editor for the Journal of Management Studies (with her term of office ending later this year). She is a Fellow of the British Academy of Management and Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences. She previously chaired the Chartered ABS Research Committee and was a member of the AJG’s Scientific Committee.
Professor Stewart Robinson, Chair of the Chartered ABS, and Dean at Newcastle University Business School, said: “Caroline brings considerable experience of governance, academic leadership, and academic publishing. With the Academic Journal Guide providing a valuable resource to tens of thousands of academics globally, it is a core service the Chartered ABS provides to our community. As the world of publishing continues to change, along with a growing emphasis on responsible research assessment, the AJG has evolved with it and will continue to do so. Within this context, we are delighted to appoint someone with Caroline’s knowledge as Chair of the AJG Management Committee.”

I believe the AJG plays a vital role in supporting academics in Business and Management through providing an evidenced and informed guide regarding a wide range of journals. Together, we aim to ensure that the AJG continues to evolve in a way that reflects the diversity, dynamism and excellence of academic research across the Business and Management community.”
Caroline replaces Professor Angus Laing as Chair. Angus has served as Chair for a number of years. Taken together with his time as Chair of the Chartered ABS Council, Angus has been involved in 4 editions of the AJG since 2014.
On Angus’s tenure Professor Stewart Robinson, said: “Angus has overseen the AJG’s expansion in terms of journal’s covered and geographic reach, as well as recent innovations to incorporate supplementary contextual data to further support academics in deciding where to publish their work. He also led important work to improve the diversity of the AJG’s Scientific Committee. We thank Angus for his contribution and the considerable time he has given.”
